CBC: Conceptual Bell Curve

  1. Like the audio format you are exploring. Suggestion - to help your audience connect to your audio reflection maybe add links to the class blog to help provide a bit more context. Suggesting this partly because your sequence is a bit out of order in your intro which might confuse your audience.
I am glad that you have noticed that your place on the bell curve may vary dependent on different factors - yes, I agree that you are open minded for the most part.
Our school: I am glad you acknowledge that even the younger grades need some opportunities to develop their independence, with support, for their own learning. Changes in report cards is new to you this year, but actually we are returning to the way we used to do things. The ministry only requires percentages for the graduation program of gr 10-12 and so we decided to return back to letter grades in an attempt to focus more on the learning process rather than the numbers game.
Myself: Thank you for acknowledging and offering the critique that I am perhaps both ahead and behind in my attempts to be more innovative in our learning. Can you help me out - I would love to hear some specifics on how I may improve and also what aspects you find ahead vs behind and why. I am also happy to see that you seem to have recognized there is sometimes a divide or difference between educational research/theory/philosphy and the ability to put into practice. There are often many reasons for this divide - here is your chance as a student to teach me and offer more advice.
Thank you Jarrod for trying to be so frank. I appreciate it. You are one of the few who have offered critique on my own practice and I look forward to learning more with you all this term.
