Interchangable Artwork- Week 4

This week I believe I was quite productive. I was unable to work on this project Monday because it was Easter and I had some family events. On Tuesday I worked on the previous weeks reflection because I prefer to count what I did over the weekend as part of the week. I also commented on Mr. Solarz's blog as an assignment. On my blog it says Thursday, however that was when I remembered I had to link my comments. I did not work on the project on Wednesday, however on Thursday Hyun I I were able to cut out all 23 slides we need out of cardboard. The slides are not very sturdy, so I will probably reinforce them with Popsicle sticks. I also drew out "Ardentis", one of our characters. On Friday we watched a video as a class and had a class discussion afterwords. The video was about how school has evolved, and what hasn't changed, as well as being creative vs. and conformity. Over the weekend I was able to make good headway on the first painting. To see pictures go to the page dedicated to this project.

Next week I need to complete the first painting, start the next one, as well as start working on the layers. I will also have to start thinking about the peer review.

Interchangable Artwork- Week 3

This week we had a 4-day school week, so we didn't have as much time to work on our project. On Monday I copied one of the sketches that I did last week onto canvas so I will be able to paint it. On Tuesday I finished up with that, and read over the story now that Hyun has finished that. We did not have class on Wednesday, and on Thursday I found it hard to work. It was a long class, but Hyun and I used Photoshop to create tree shapes so we can use those shapes to create our trees for the different layers.

Next week I will have to start painting, as well as working on the layers. This will be difficult because I will not be able to paint at school.

I would love to try and create a demonstration from an image someone would like to see. If you have any ideas please leave a comment.

Interchangeable Artwork- Week 2 Reflecttion

This week we were able to work on our projects in class. Over the weekend I used blender, a tree dimensional modeling/animating program, to make a scale model of my project frame. I decided to this because most of the people I have talked to have been confused on how this would work and/or what it would look like. On Monday we weren't working on this project but our reflections from our class assignment/projects. Tuesday Hyun and I finished the story outline. At one point we couldn't think of what "object" we would use, as well as how that would affect the story. We were able to use the SmartBoard so we scribbled using the pen tool. Though it may sound weird I have done this a lot. You try to find ideas in the scribble by finding things the lines form. Though we did not get the object using this method we did think of how it would affect the story. Thursday the first thing Hyun and I did was come up with the object. We were finally able to agree on what it could be. This would have happened sooner, however I did not understand the other concept. Later that day we split off and worked on different aspects of this project. Hyun worked on the story while I worked on the background sketches. On Friday we kept working on our separate things. By the end of class I was able to finish the three sketches. I also thought that it would be good to show an example of a flat image and turn it into the layered art. If you leave me a comment with something you may want to see then I'll see what I can do. Overall I think Hyun and I were productive this week. We were able to get a lot done.

To see pictures and point form of what we did over the weeks we worked on this project look under the Project 1 page.

Room Layout Reflection

For our group reflection Click Here.

For my individual reflection I will be assessing myself on a scale between 0 and 5, 0 being the worst.

My groups task was to redesign the classroom layout. We were tasked with this after we got a SmartBoard, and not all the students would be facing it. I would give myself a 4 for understanding the task. I understood what to do, but I didn't really understand why. Me and my group didn't really think about who the stakeholders would be, and we didn't make a scale model, I would give myself a 2 for breaking down the problem because I didn't think about stakeholders or do any research on how to make a floor plan. The next step was to redefine the problem. I don't really think that we had to do this because the problem was already clear, however Ms.Lees reminded us that she was our stakeholder and she had some things she wanted to add. For redefining the problem I think I deserve a 3 because I don't think there was much for me to clarify, but I do think I helped clarify what we had to do now. That next step was to make a solution, in our case a floor plan. At first it wasn't at all to scale, so that wouldn't give an accurate plan. We then made a scale model (after informed by Ms.Lees) and it was extremely stressful. I would give myself a 4 on this stage because I often took measurements, created the scale furniture and helped place it, but I was still distracted a lot. The next day we executed the plan. I think I deserve a 3-4 on this stage. I didn't get distracted but I often felt overwhelmed because of all we had to do.
Overall I would give myself a 3-4. There was a lot of things I would improve, first of all I would ask the stakeholder what they want first. The next thing I would do is take pictures of where things go so I could put it back that way. The main thing I learned was that being an architect is hard work. I also learned what I need to do in a project where you are doing something for another person.
